PASIG CITY, July 14, 2018 – The Commission on Elections (COMELEC), represented by Chairman Al Parreño, commended the contribution of the Department of Education (DepEd) to the success of the recently concluded local polls.

In a meeting last July 6 at DepEd-Office of the Secretary’s conference room, Secretary Leonor Magtolis Briones received a certificate of commendation “for her commitment and dedicated service in leading the Department of Education, especially the teachers who tirelessly and valiantly served as members of the electoral boards, resulting in the success of the 14 May 2018 Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections.”

COMELEC officials and other election officers who joined the meeting and awarding shared positive feedback on the teachers’ participation in the 2018 elections. Briones earlier thanked the teacher-volunteers for continuously heeding to the patriotic call to serve in the elections, and ensuring its honest, orderly, peaceful, and credible conduct.

The DepEd Election Task Force (ETF) and Monitoring Center, which was reactivated from the Central to the Regional and Division Offices to cater to the needs of the teacher-volunteers from May 13 to 15, was likewise instrumental to the success of the May 14 elections.

Also present in the meeting were DepEd Undersecretary and ETF Chairperson Alain Del B. Pascua, and ETF Operations and Legal Support Head Atty. Marcelo Bragado Jr..
