Passion and dedication make a successful athlete. So does an inspired heart with strong faith that rises above life’s challenges and circumstances.

Jayden Reece Callo Ballado, a student of Muñoz Central School in the Division of Science City of Muñoz, Nueva Ecija, is an example of such athlete.

This 10-year-old lawn tennis champion’s perseverance and endurance brought her opportunities to compete and win in local and international tournaments where she has already bagged a total of six golds, six silvers, and six bronzes.

To prepare herself for every game, she undergoes extensive training from Monday to Sunday.

Despite this, Jayden upholds her high regard for education as manifested in her excellent school performance. From being in the top 10 students during the first and second quarters of the school year, she emerged in the top three with honors during the third quarter. She skillfully balances athletic training and academic work.

The multi-awarded student-athlete shared that she will continuously strive to attain her dream to make her family proud, especially her father who always accompanies her to various competitions. She likewise aspires for a full scholarship grant in high school at San Sebastian College.

When asked about her aspirations, Jayden cited her simple prayer: “May the Lord continue to shower our family with happiness, and may we stay together for a long time.”

She also shared a message for her fellow athletes: “Huwag sumuko sa kabila ng pagkatalo at laging maging masaya sa bawat tagumpay, ganoon din sa pagkatalo, dahil dito tayo matututo.”

The simple elementary girl with big dreams desires to achieve her ultimate goal not only for her self-fulfillment, but also for all the people who hope and pray for her success, especially in the 2019 Palarong Pambansa.
