Guidelines in the Utilization of the Subsidy for the Regional Science High Schools for CY 2002

1.  For CY 2002, all Regional Science High Schools (RSHSs) will be given financial aid in the amount of One Million Four Hundred Thousand Pesos (P 1,400, 000.00) each for specific purposes under budget line for Maintenance and Other Operating Expenses (MOOE) .
2.  The utilization of the said amount shall follow these specific guidelines:
30% or P 420,000.00       Procurement of supplies and materials for Science, Mathematics and English only. These may also include cabinets for storage of equipment;
15% or P 210,000.00       Procurement of instructional materials including textbooks for each subject area, reference books, professional books magazines, CDs in Science, Mathematics and English, and internet subscription;
30 % or P 420,000.00      For electric and water bills, maintenance and repair of previously owned science equipment including upgrading of computers/printers;
12.5 % or P 175,000.00 Defray Expenses for training/professional upgrading of all teachers/principals/OlCs directly managing the RSHS, including attendance in seminars that may be sponsored by DepEd or other agencies; and
12.5 % or P 175,000.00 Subsidy for student researches/projects.
3.  The amount shall be released to the DepEd Regional Offices in the form of Sub-Allotment Release Order (Sub-ARO) as follows:
4.  Heads of agencies involved in the release of the said amount are reminded of the DBM Circular Letter No. 2000-13 dated August 18, 2000, that the appropriations for MOOE shall be valid for release and obligation until December 31, 2002 only.
5.  A report of liquidation of expenses including the list of procured Science and Mathematics and English supplies and materials shall be submitted to the Regional Office, copy furnished the Bureau of Secondary Education (BSE), not later than January 31, 2003.
6.  It is suggested that the summarized liquidation of the amount shall use the following format:
