This Order's policies and guidelines pertain to the utilization of distribution funds (DFs) for the kindergarten activity sheets (KASs), elementary textbooks (TXs), teachers manuals (TMs), and K to 12 basic instructional materials (BIMs) procured by the Department of Education (DepEd) Central Office (CO).
This DepEd Order provides the Policy and Guidelines on the Proper Distribution, Care, Recording, Retrieval and Disposal of Textbooks (TXs) with the Teacher’s Manuals (TMs) and Other Instructional Materials (IMs) in order to improve access to them, maximize their use, and minimize or eliminate damages and/or losses. It also provides guidelines on the proper recording and disposal of damaged and condemned TXs with the TMs and other IMs.
The Department of Education-Central Office (DepEd-CO) has allocated the amount of Seven Hundred Fifty Three Million (PhP753,000.000.00) for this purpose. This Order intends to provide the following Guidelines on the Allocation of Centrally-Procured Supplementary Reading and Reference Materials for Batches 4-6 of the Library Hubs with ready infrastructures.
The Library Hub is an innovative project of the Department of Education (DepEd) under the Office of the Undersecretary for Finance and Administration. The main objective of the Project is to develop the love for and habit of reading among pupils and students in public elementary and secondary schools.
It is the policy of the Department of Education (DepEd) to provide every pupil/student in all public schools with a complete set of textbooks (TXs) per grade/year level, and every teacher, a complete set of teachers manuals (TMs) which go with the textbooks.
The Department of Education (DepEd) through the Instructional Materials Council Secretariat (IMCS), in collaboration with the Bureau of Elementary Education (BEE), Bureau of Secondary Education (BSE), and the Bureau of Alternative Learning System (BALS), shall provide instructional materials to Special Education (SPED) centers for children with special needs (i.e., the gifted/talented, intellectually deficient, visually impaired, hearing impaired, orthopedically handicapped, and children with speech defect, autism, health problems, and behavior problems).
A List of Approved Supplementary Reading and Reference Materials was issued through DepEd Order No. 112, s. 2009 on November 13, 2009. However, some errors in the entries of technical specifications of selected approved Supplementary Reading and Reference Materials were observed. These corrected entries have been included in the enclosure for the information and guidance of all concerned.
This Department issued the DepEd Order No. 112, s. 2009 entitled “List of Approved Supplementary Reading and Reference Materials”. Item no. 2.b, last sentence reads The enclosed non-exclusive list shall be regularly updated in accordance with the evaluation standards and criteria set by DepEd Instructional Materials Council Secretariat (IMCS).
Additional Guidelines on the List of Approved Supplementary Reading and Reference Materials was issued to all concerned stakeholders through the issuance of DepEd Order No. 119, s. 2009 on December 21, 2009.
This Order intends to advocate to all stakeholders the allocation of centrally procured Supplementary Reading/Reference Materials (SRMs) and other Instructional Materials (OIMs) for the Library Hubs.
