Anent DepEd Order No. 112, s. 2009 (List of Approved Supplementary Reading and Reference Materials), the following additional guidelines are hereby issued.
The Department of Education (DepEd)-National Science Teaching and Instrumentation Center (NSTIC), Bureau of Elementary Education (BEE), Bureau of Secondary Education (BSE) and the University of the Philippines-National Institute of Science and Math Education (UP-NISMED) conducted a two-day Consultative Meeting on March 5-6, 2009 at the BSE Conference Room. During the consultative meeting, the participants were able to produce complete listings of Science and Mathematics Equipment, Laboratory Glassware and Consumables.
The Parents-Teachers Associations (PTAs) are encouraged to involve all stakeholders in the schools to ensure effective implementation of responsive programs, projects and activities. The pupils and students, being the ultimate beneficiaries of the PTAs, should be engaged in matters that affect them. Pupils and students, as part of their holistic school learning and experience, should also be exposed to actual exercises of their civic duty in a participatory democracy and practice which is one of the key attributes in the institution of the Parents-Teachers Associations in the schools.
Pursuant to the Government’s commitment to support students and teachers in private education, this Department issued DepEd Order No. 86, s. 2009 containing the “Policies and Guidelines for the Government Assistance to Students and Teachers in Private Education (GASTPE), SY 2009-2010” which among others, provided financial assistance to students in both Educational Service Contracting Scheme (ESC) and Education Voucher System (EVS) Programs of GASTPE this SY 2009-2010.
The appropriation for the CY 2010 DepEd School Building Program was allocated by legislative districts in accordance with the allocation criteria under Republic Act No. 7880. Enclosed are the guidelines for the preparation of Priority List of School Buildings to be funded under this Program marked Annex “A”.
The Christmas season should be an occasion for thanksgiving and rejoicing. It also provides us the opportunity to imitate and live out the virtues which the Lord Jesus exemplified during His life here on earth, such as humility, simplicity, and obedience. Christmas celebrations in public schools and DepEd Central and field offices should be simple but meaningful, keeping in mind the true spirit of the season and the austerity called for by the difficult economic times. The following guidelines should be observed.
The Department has launched the DepED Internet Connectivity Project (DICP) through DepED Order No. 50, s. 2009 entitled “Launching the DepED Internet Connectivity Project and Directing All Public High Schools to Subscribe to Internet Connectivity Services”.
The Department of Education (DepEd) is pleased to announce the List of Approved Reading and Reference Materials (copy enclosed) which may be used in public schools starting CY 2009.
The Department of Education (DepEd) is currently undertaking key reform initiatives for the development of its personnel, pursuant to Republic Act No. 9155, re: Governance of Basic Education Act of 2001. In view of this, the National Educators Academy of the Philippines (NEAP), which is the training arm of DepEd, is hereby established in the regions.
To assist the secondary schools implementing the Special Programs (Arts, Sports and Special Education) in the effective delivery of service to the talented/special students, the Department of Education (DepEd) shall provide a Five Hundred Thousand Pesos (PhP500,000.00) subsidy to the seventeen (17) schools of the SPA and SPS, and the one hundred three (103) SPED schools (please see enclosed lists).
