DepEd Orders

For the information and guidance of all concerned, enclosed is a copy of the Implementing Rules and Regulations (IRR) of Republic Act (RA) No. 10627, entitled An Act Requiring All Elementary and Secondary Schools to Adopt Policies to Prevent and Address the Acts of Bullying in Their Institutions. This is also known as the Anti-Bullying Act of 2013.

In support of the Philippine Plan of Action for Nutrition (PPAN) as approved by the National Nutrition Council Governing Board through NNC-GB Resolution No. 1, s. 2012, the Department of Education (DepEd) has advocated school feeding programs for the past years to improve the nutritional status of the undernourished pupils and students.

Public elementary and secondary schools are ordered to accept “emergency transferees” caused by typhoon Yolanda, despite insufficient transfer credentials. Their school records shall be updated once the Department of Education (DepEd) operations in the affected areas have normalized. For initial tracking of pupil and student data, all concerned are advised to collect the information indicated in the enclosure to this Order.

In line with the thrust to strengthen Science and Mathematics education in the country, the Department of Education (DepEd), through the Bureau of Secondary Education (BSE), has been implementing the specialized public secondary school system through the Regional Science High Schools (RSHSs) since 1994.

The Madrasah Education Program (MEP), a component of the K to 12 Program, contains a comprehensive standard or enhanced basic education curriculum in Arabic Language and Islamic Values Education (ALIVE) for all Muslim learners from both public and private Madaris. MEP aims to engage Muslim learners with relevant educational opportunities and processes, as contained in the Road Map for Upgrading Muslim Basic Education, and with components of Madrasah Education.

To ensure the effectiveness of the teaching and learning of Science and Mathematics in basic education, the Department of Education (DepEd), through the National Science Teaching Instrumentation Center (NSTIC) and in coordination with the Bureau of Secondary Education (BSE), shall provide packages of basic Science and Mathematics Equipment compliant to the K to 12 Curriculum for Grades 7 to 10.

In line with the thrust to improve the quality of teaching and performance of talented secondary school students, the Department of Education (DepEd) implemented the Special Program for the Arts (SPA) and the Special Program for Sports (SPS) since 2000 in selected public secondary schools nationwide. The schools offering SPA and SPS provide development opportunities to high school students with high inclination and potential for arts and sports.

Ang Komisyon sa Wikang Filipino (KWF) ay masusing pinag-aralan ang mga nagdaang ortograpiyang Filipino na kasalukuyang ipinapatupad sa mga paaralan. Mula sa serye ng konsultasyon nabuo ang Binagong Gabay sa Ortograpiya ng Wikang Filipino na may pamagat na Ortograpiyang Pambansa.

The Learner Information System (LIS) was implemented in government schools and Community Learning Centers (CLCs) in September 2012 through DepEd Order Nos. 67, s. 2011 and 22, s. 2012.
