The National Commission on Muslim Filipinos has called for strict implementation of the policy on the right of Muslim Filipino women to wear hijab/veil. Hence, the Department of Education (DepEd) reiterates its policy on the protection of religious rights of students as contained in DECS Order No. 53, s. 2001 entitled Strengthening the Protection of Religious Rights of Students.

In addition to the languages of instruction mentioned in DepEd Order No. 16, s. 2012 entitled Guidelines on the Implementation of the Mother Tongue Based-Multilingual Education (MTB-MLE) under the K to 12 Basic Education Program, the following shall be used as the languages of instruction for Grade 1 pupils who speak the same languages.

On February 14, 2013, the Department of Education (DepEd) issued DepEd Order No. 9, s. 2013 entitled 2013 Graduation Rites. Paragraph 2(b) of the said Order states that: "PTAs may give donations in cash or in kind for the graduation ceremonies."
