The Department of Education (DepEd), through the Bureau of Elementary Education (BEE), has been implementing the Special Science Elementary School (SSES) Project since 2007. This is an educational intervention designed to develop children who have keen interest and exceptional abilities in Science and Mathematics.
Ang Komisyon sa Wikang Filipino (KWF) ay masusing pinag-aralan ang mga nagdaang ortograpiyang Filipino na kasalukuyang ipinapatupad sa mga paaralan. Mula sa serye ng konsultasyon nabuo ang Binagong Gabay sa Ortograpiya ng Wikang Filipino na may pamagat na Ortograpiyang Pambansa.
The Learner Information System (LIS) was implemented in government schools and Community Learning Centers (CLCs) in September 2012 through DepEd Order Nos. 67, s. 2011 and 22, s. 2012.
The National Commission on Muslim Filipinos has called for strict implementation of the policy on the right of Muslim Filipino women to wear hijab/veil. Hence, the Department of Education (DepEd) reiterates its policy on the protection of religious rights of students as contained in DECS Order No. 53, s. 2001 entitled Strengthening the Protection of Religious Rights of Students.
In view of the implementation of the K to 12 Basic Education Program, the Department of Education (DepEd) issues the following Clarifications on the Policy Guidelines on the Implementation of the Language Learning Areas and their Time Allotment in Grades 1 and 2 as stated in the Enclosure Nos. 1 and 2 of DepEd Order No. 31, s. 2012.
The Department of Education (DepEd) through the Research and Statistics Division-Office of Planning Service (RSD-OPS) has developed the Enhanced Basic Education Information System (EBEIS) to ensure efficient and effective collection and processing of relevant school-level data needed for planning, allocation of resources and generation of performance indicators.
The Department of Education (DepEd) has established the Office of Undersecretary for Partnerships and External Linkages (OUPEL) which is composed of the Undersecretary for Partnerships and External Linkages, its executive assistants, project manager and members of the Adopt-a-School Program (ASP) Secretariat, and personnel and staff of the International Cooperation Office (ICO), among others.
In addition to the languages of instruction mentioned in DepEd Order No. 16, s. 2012 entitled Guidelines on the Implementation of the Mother Tongue Based-Multilingual Education (MTB-MLE) under the K to 12 Basic Education Program, the following shall be used as the languages of instruction for Grade 1 pupils who speak the same languages.
Pursuant to the provisions of Section 36-b of Republic Act (RA) No. 9710 also known as the Magna Carta of Women (MCW), all government agencies are mandated to establish and institutionalize the Gender and Development (GAD) Focal Point Systems (GFPS).
In line with the National Indigenous Peoples Education Policy Framework as stipulated in DepEd Order No. 62, s. 2011, as well as its commitment to achieve its Education for All (EFA) 2015 targets and the Millenium Development Goals (MDGs), the Department of Education (DepEd) intends to strengthen its policy on Indigenous Peoples Education (IPEd) by developing and implementing the IPEd Program.
