Philippines to host 2nd Technical Expert Workshop and ASEAN Qualifications Reference Framework (AQRF) Committee Meet

PASIG CITY, July 10, 2017 – The Philippines will host the Second Technical Expert Workshop and ASEAN Qualifications Reference Framework (AQRF) Committee Meeting on July 12-13 and the Conference on Mobility in ASEAN: Referencing and Recognition of Qualifications on July 14 at the New World Manila Bay Hotel in Manila.
 
The event is jointly organized by the ASEAN Secretariat, ASEAN National Organizing Committee, the Department of Education (DepEd), the Commission on Higher Education (CHED), the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC), and the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA).
 
The international confab will be primarily attended by the heads of Philippine government agencies namely: Education Secretary Leonor Magtolis Briones, Labor Secretary Silvestre H. Bello, TESDA Director-General Guiling Mamondiong, CHED Chairperson Patricia Licuanan, and PRC Chairman   Teofilo S. Pilando, Jr. Joining them are representatives from the 10 ASEAN member states.
 
The committee meeting will discuss the details of the work plan of the AQRF in accordance to its functions, while the technical workshop will focus on quality assurance and comparative analyses of Australia Qualifications Framework and New Zealand Qualifications Framework to the European Qualifications Framework.
 
Moreover, on July 14, the CHED will lead the conduct of the Conference on Mobility in ASEAN: Referencing and Recognition of Qualifications, which is co-organized with the DepEd, TESDA, PRC, and DOLE.
 
The conference will dwell on the institutionalization of PQF and its referencing with the AQRF in 2018. The activity will also orient the ASEAN and Philippine PQF stakeholders and to generate feedback and ideas on how to improve its implementation.
