The Backspin Star of Batangas Province

March 29, 2017

Kaye Denise Encarnacion, who hails from Batangas Province, is considered as the best table tennis player in Pedro A. Paterno National High School.
A two-time gold medalist, she was also awarded as the best in Table Tennis Singles in CALABARZON in 2015 and 2016. This feisty 15-year-old also won the gold for their Division in the Table Tennis Singles event girls’ category during the Regional Sports Competition (RSC) 2017 last February.
Denise also participated at the Palarong Pambansa last year where she was awarded as one of the gold medalists in the Team Event.
During the 2015 Southern Tagalog CALABARZON Athletics Association (STCAA), she was hailed as the best in the Singles category.
Known as the “Backspin Star” for her style of play, Denise plays genuinely well with her offensive strokes as she hits, loops, flips, and smashes the ball. Her backspin, where she strikes the base of the ball with a downward movement, makes it very hard for the opponent to counter.
She has been playing table tennis for four years, since she entered Junior High School.
Now in Grade 10, despite her success in playing, Denise still considers her studies as her top priority.
