Davao Regional Athletic Association (DAVRAA) Eagles banked on a Mark Jorell Campos wonder goal to edge Central Luzon Regional Athletic Association (CLRAA), 4-0 in the 2018 Palarong Pambansa, Sunday, April 16, at the St. Paul College Football field, Vigan City, Ilocos Sur.

According to DAVRAA Team Captain, Gian Carlo Casreial, Central Luzon is a team considered difficult to tame in the 70th minute after their attempt was deflected. The corner was cleared by the DAVRAA backline player.

“Possibly, they deserved to win the game, but we fought until the end,” Caserial said.

Campos and Caserial opened the scoring as they contributed one goal each while Middle Sriker Gian Carlo Lacerna registered two goals that brought Davao Region to their victory against Central Luzon.

“You can’t relax. Obviously, this has been a very challenging year for us, but we’ve got two more games, and then we’ll get ready to the semi-finals,” Lacerna said.

According to Coach Romalia A. Banta, they were uttering a prayer of faith every day from the start of the competition until the end.

“The secret to our success is the dedication of the players in their games and trainings, the support of the coaches and families, and of course, the continuous grace from the Lord,” Coach Banta said.

More than skills, Coach Banta taught his players discipline and good attitude which she believes are essential to making champions.

“After the game, whether we win or lose, we always have an evaluation and it’s the players themselves who will tell the group what’s wrong so they won’t make the same mistakes in the next games,” Coach Banta added.
