NEW DELHI, INDIA, 26 Pebrero 2026 — Inilatag ng Department of Education (DepEd), sa pamamagitan ng Education Center for AI Research (ECAIR), ang national framework nito para sa pagpapalawak ng artificial intelligence sa pampublikong edukasyon sa AI Impact Summit na ginanap sa Bharat Mandapam Convention Centre na naganap noong Pebrero 16-21, 2026.

Tinalakay sa sesyon na may temang “From Promising Pilots to System Shifts: What It Really Takes to Scale Responsible AI in Education,” kung paano maililipat ang AI initiatives mula sa maliliit na pilot projects tungo sa responsable at system-wide adoption sa malalaking public education systems. Ito ay inorganisa ng EdTech Hub’s AI Observatory & Action Lab.

Binigyang-diin ni Education Secretary Sonny Angara na ang pagpapalawak ng AI sa edukasyon ay dapat nakabatay sa ebidensya at malinaw na pananagutan.

“At DepEd, we are deliberate about building AI that strengthens public institutions, protects our learners, and delivers measurable results at scale. ECAIR reflects our commitment to move beyond experimentation and toward responsible transformation across our entire education system,” ani Angara.

Iginiit ng DepEd, na nirerepresenta ng ECAIR team, na kahit maliit na pagtaas sa efficiency ay may malaking epekto.

“In a system serving over 24 million learners, even a one percent gain in efficiency has a massive impact on our country’s education system. By integrating AI into DepEd’s operations, we are saving millions of hours of our teachers’ time so they can focus on teaching,” ayon kay ECAIR Governance and Delivery Lead Elmo Domino Jose.

Ang ECAIR ay bahagi ng mas malawak na AI ecosystem ng DepEd at nangunguna sa design, development, at implementation ng piling AI systems na sumusuporta sa governance at education service delivery. Tinitiyak nitong ang AI tools ay naka-embed sa institutional workflows at hindi lamang hiwalay na inisyatiba.

Kabilang sa mga sistemang itinampok sa summit ang:

• SIGLA, na nag-a-automate ng school health monitoring at reporting, nagpapababa ng administrative workload at nakakatipid ng tinatayang 60,000 oras kada taon para sa humigitkumulang 34,000 guro.

• SABAY, isang AI-supported digital triage system na idinisenyo upang mapalawak ang specialist academic support sa humigit-kumulang 48,000 pampublikong paaralan, lalo na para sa early-grade learners.

Inilatag din ng DepEd ang four-part framework ng ECAIR para sa pagpapalawak ng AI solutions sa pampublikong edukasyon: technical readiness para sa nationwide deployment; malinaw na institutional ownership sa loob ng DepEd; governance mechanisms na nakaembed sa system design; at transparent implementation upang mapanatili ang tiwala ng publiko.

Sinusuportahan ng EdTech Hub’s AI Observatory & Action Lab ang DepEd at ECAIR sa pamamagitan ng research, global best practice, real-world implementation, at documentation ng ebidensya at outcomes. Pinapadali rin nito ang knowledge exchange sa mga global experts at institutions upang makatulong sa paghubog ng policy at scaling strategies.

Ang Pilipinas ay isa sa anim na bansang napili para sa AI Observatory’s Ministry of Education AI Challenge at tanging bansa mula sa Southeast Asia. Ang engagement na ito ay suportado ng UK Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) at nagpapatibay sa matibay na education partnership ng United Kingdom at Pilipinas.

Ayon kay ECAIR Managing Director Dr. Erika Fille Legara, pinapalakas ng partnership ang institutional capacity at evidence-based deployment.
