DepEd launches ALS-EST Handbook

QUEZON CITY, June 4, 2019 – To guide implementers in navigating the Alternative Learning System-Education and Skills Training (ALS-EST) Program, the Department of Education (DepEd), with support from the Australian Government through the Basic Education Sector Transformation (BEST) Program, launched the ALS-EST Handbook for Implementers at the SEAMEO Innotech in Quezon City on June 4. Undersecretary and Chief of Staff Nepomuceno Malaluan, who supervises the program under the Office of the Secretary, noted the highlights of the handbook and how it forms part of the Department’s commitment to intensify and expand the regular ALS Program, which is considered a centerpiece of basic education under the Duterte administration.

First ALS-EST learning hub opens in Eastern Samar

Lawaan, Eastern Samar, May 4, 2019 - The country's pioneer Alternative Learning System - Education and Skills Training (ALS-EST) Learning Center was inaugurated at Lawaan National School of Craftsmanship and Home Industries (LNSCHI) on May 3. Department of Education (DepEd) Undersecretary and Chief of Staff Nepomuceno Malaluan and Australian Ambassador Steven Robinson led the ceremonies.

DepEd inaugurates pioneer ALS-EST learning center in Eastern Samar

In order to reach out and provide better opportunities for the out-of-school youth and adults who failed to finish basic education, the Department of Education (DepEd) led the inauguration of the country’s pioneer Alternative Learning System–Education and Skills Training (ALS-EST) Learning Center in Eastern Samar.
