ASEC. JANIR TY DATUKAN
Asec. Janir TY Datukan is an advocate for science education and literacy, with a career deeply rooted in both academia and public service. He holds a Master of Science in Chemistry, specializing in organometallic chemistry, from Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan, and a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from the University of the Philippines, Diliman. His passion for teaching has driven him to educate generations of students and future teachers in chemistry and science at the Philippine Normal University (PNU), where he also served as Board Secretary from 2020 to 2024, strengthening his skills in senior management and public administration.
As a proponent of “science for the masses,” Asec. Datukan has appeared on various television programs, making complex scientific concepts accessible to a wide audience. His commitment to science literacy extends into authorship, with a series of foundational science textbooks for junior high students aimed at inspiring interest in STEM fields.
Asec. Datukan firmly believes in the role of science education as a cornerstone of nation-building, advocating for strong science foundations at the grassroots level to empower the next generation. His work continues to bridge the gap between science and society, ensuring that science education is both inclusive and impactful.
