Atty. Peter Irving C. Corvera, recently appointed by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. as Undersecretary of the Department of Education under Secretary Sonny Angara, oversees the Department as Head of the Procuring Entity, manages Senior Personnel Oversight, and chairs the National Screening Committee for third-level positions.

Previously, Atty. Corvera served as Undersecretary for Public Safety in the Department of Interior and Local Government from 2014 to July 2016, where he supervised the Bureau of Fire Protection and the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology. He also supported the Secretary in managing operational aspects of the Philippine National Police. His leadership roles included Chairing the Committee on Security, Peace, Order, and Emergency Preparedness during the 2015 Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit, serving as the Philippine Senior Official for Transnational Crime, and acting as Lead Shepherd of the ASEAN Convention Against Trafficking in Persons. Additionally, he led the Philippine Delegation to the United Nations High Commission on Human Rights in Geneva, defending the country’s stance on the Convention Against Torture.

Atty. Corvera’s distinguished contributions earned him the Presidential Medal of Merit, awarded for extraordinary service to the Republic. In the legal community, he held the presidency of the Integrated Bar of the Philippines for Pasay, Parañaque, Las Piñas, and Muntinlupa, served as Commissioner on Bar Discipline, and was the 1st Vice President of the Philippine Bar Association.

As a founding partner at Tolentino Corvera Macasaet and Reig Law Offices, he has provided extensive legal expertise, and he also led Pedro Farms, Inc. as Chairman and CEO. His long tenure as Chairman of the Board of Trustees at Central Philippine University reflects his commitment to education.

Atty. Corvera holds a Bachelor of Science in Commerce (Accounting) from Central Philippine University and an LLB/Juris Doctor from the University of the Philippines College of Law, passing the Bar in 1996.
