Dr. MARILETTE RITO ALMAYDA is the Director IV of the Bureau of Alternative Education. Her previous work experiences in the department include: Officer-in-Charge, Office of the Assistant Secretary for Curriculum and Teaching-Education Assessment and Alternative Education; Head of the Alternative Learning System Task Force and Officer-in-Charge, Office of the Director IV of the Bureau of Alternative Education (BAE) and the Bureau of Learning Delivery (BLD); OIC Executive Director II of the Teacher Education Council and Director III of the Bureau of Elementary Education. She was appointed as a Regular Teacher I in 1993 in SDO Legazpi City. She also served as District Guidance and Girl Scout Coordinator, Teacher-in-charge, Head Teacher, Division and Regional Supervisor and Assistant Schools Division Superintendent in SDO Albay for six years.
She holds the degree of Bachelor of Elementary Education (BEED) major in Counselor Education , Master of Arts in Education (MAED) major in Counselor Education and Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) major in Educational Foundation and Management. She also graduated with the Diploma in Development Management (DDM) under the Development Academy of the Philippines Public Management Development Program (DAP-PMDP) Senior Executives Class Shuttle Course (Batch 1) and Management Development Program (MDP) under the Asian Institute of Management (AIM).
Known for her passion and dedication in the field of education and public service, she has taken a dynamic and active part in the instutionalization of the Alternative Learning System (ALS) program that included the passage of RA 11510 or the ALS Law, creation of the Bureau of Alternative Education (BAE) and other innovative milestones catering to the needs of the less fortunate and marginalized learners seeking second chance education program opportunities.
