Clarification to DECS Order No. 109, s. 1989 (Guidelines in the Establishment and Operation of the Philippine Schools Abroad)

  1. The attention of all concerned is invited to Item No. 7 of DECS Order No. 109, s. 1989 which is hereby corrected to read as follows:
    “7. A certification of recognition may be applied for after one year of successful operation. An ocular inspection of the school by an official authorized by the Secretary of Education, Culture and Sports is necessary before the certification of recognition may be granted.”
  2. Further, hereunder is an addendum to the said DECS Order.
    “11. All proposed Philippine schools abroad to operate under Philippine laws must register with the Securities and Exchange Commission as a corporate entity with all the corresponding requisites of B.P. 232.”
  3. Immediate dissemination of this Order is desired for the guidance of all concerned.
