QUEZON CITY, February 26, 2019 – The Department of Education successfully kicked off the Annual National Early Registration for incoming Kindergarten, Grades 1, 7 and 11 learners in all public schools on January 26, 2019. OIC RD Wilfredo E. Cabral enjoined all Regional Office personnel and Schools Division Superintendents to monitor the pre-registration process in their respective Divisions.

The month-long campaign (January 26-February 22) ensures the right of all school-aged learners to enroll and be equally provided with accessible and liberating basic education.

New entrants are registered for School year 2019-2020, for the Department to better address possible issues and concerns during the opening of classes. After the activity, the Department will conduct an in-depth review of the entire registration process to identify the effective practices, major challenges and its possible solution to strengthen the implementation.

Before the commencement of the National Early Registration, Schools Division Offices (SDOs) have initially conducted information and advocacy campaigns to raise public awareness on early registration based on the “Basic Education Enrollment Policy” in DepEd Order No. 3 series of 2018 issued by Education Secretary Leonor Briones. SDOs organized a team that spearheaded the advocacy campaigns. Each school has early registration desks manned by assigned personnel tasked to handle queries and assist in the registration process.

In the said DepEd Order, incoming Grades 2-6, Grades 8-10 and Grade 12 learners are considered pre-registered, hence, these students did not participate in the Early Registration.

As of February 22, 2019, a total of 370,634 learners were listed in the Early Registration Module of the Learner Information System (LIS), breakdown is as follows:

Kindergarten   79,565
Grade 1 131,857
Grade 7 123,600
Grade 11   35,612
Total 370,634
