Addendum to DECS Order No. 28, s. 1992 (Search for Excellent Private Elementary and Secondary Schools in the Regions)

Heads of Private Schools, Colleges and Universities

  1. The following additional guidelines are hereby added to the inclosure to DECS Order No. 28, s. 1992 entitled Search for Excellent Private Elementary and Secondary Schools in the Regions:
    6. Physical Facilities (10%) – More than adequate school campus, buildings, laboratories, furniture, equipment, etc.
    6.1 Adequate and attractive campus
    6.2 Athletic field and gymnasium
    6.3 Adequate school buildings and classrooms (i.e. clinic, cafeteria, office, etc.) that meet architectural, pedagogical, and safety requirements/standards
    6.4 Functional laboratory for science, home economics, etc.
    6.5 Evidence of preventive maintenance of equipment and facilities
    7. Financial Resources (10%) – More than adequate and stable financial resources
    7.1 Adequate provision for staff salaries and benefits
    7.2 Provision for institutional development
    7.3 Stable sources of income
    8. School-Community Relations (10%) – School enjoys community prestige and provides high levels of school-community interaction
    8.1 School has MIS about the community
    8.2 School involvement in planning activities supportive of the philosophy and programs of the school
    8.3 Systematic program of informing the community about the school
    8.4 School involvement in community programs and concerns
    8.5 Active parent organization
    8.6 Community serves as a laboratory for learning
  2. Immediate dissemination of this Order is desired.
