Designation of DECS Lawyers to Handle Election Related Cases

1.   Pursuant to the Memorandum of Agreement entered into by and between the Commission on Elections and the Department of Education, Culture and Sports dated April 8, 1998, the following DECS lawyers are hereby designated to constitute a committee to handle Election-related cases (criminal and/or administrative complaints) involving teachers, DECS supervisors and support personnel who will render election duties during the May 11, 1998 national and local elections:

Lawyers in the regional offices will handle initially cases in their respective regions. If necessary, assistance may be requested from the Central Office and the Public Attorney’s Office, Department of Justice.
In the absence of a lawyer in the region, the lawyers from the Central Office will handle the cases together with lawyers of the Public Attorney’s Office whose services have been offered by the Secretary of Justice, Hon. Silvestre Bello III, in his letter dated April 15, 1998.
Requests for legal assistance should he addressed to Atty. Reno A. Capinpin, Assistant Secretary for Legal Affairs of this Department.
