Adopting the Philippine Secondary Schools Learning Competencies (PSSLC)

1.   The Principal’s Secondary Schools Learning Competencies (PSSLC) refers to the set of competencies in Filipino, Araling Panlipunan (Social Studies); Edukasyong Pangkatawan, Kalusugan at Musika (Physical Education, Health and Music); Edukasyong Pagpapahalaga (Values Education) ; English; Science and Technology; Mathematics; Technology and Home Economics which shall be the standards of performance to ensure quality education in secondary schools.
2.   The PSSLC shall be the bases for:
 a.   Developing/ evaluating instructional materials;
 b.   Planning the teaching-learning process at the micro levels;
 c.   Defining the in-service and pre-service needs of teachers; and
 d.   Assessing the performance of students.
3.   The PSSLC contains the revisions and updates made on the existing Desired Learning Competencies. The revisions were the results of the consultation and workshops conducted by the Bureau of Secondary Education with parents, teachers, students, members of the academe, business and religious groups.
4.   In view of the foregoing, the PSSLC shall be adopted effective School Year 1998-1999 for incoming first year students.
5.   Strict compliance with this Order is directed.
