2007 Census of Population

  1. Pursuant to Resolution No. 8, series of 2007 of the National Statistical Coordination Board (NSCB) entitled “Enjoining Agencies to Provide Assistance to the Conduct of the 2007 Census of Population” and in compliance with Executive Order No. 121, otherwise known as “The Reorganization Act of the Philippine Statistical System”, declaring that the National Statistics Office (NSO) shall be the major statistical agency responsible for generating general-purpose statistics and for undertaking such censuses and surveys, the National Statistical Coordination Board hereby enjoins all agencies and instrumentalities of the government to provide assistance to the 2007 Census of Population (POPCEN 2007) in August 2007.
  2. This POPCEN 2007 will provide up-to-date population count of barangays and statistics on the selected socio-economic and demographic characteristics of the population. These data will be used for the formulation of national and local development plans and programs. Relative to this, Administrator Carmelita N. Ericta of the National Statistics Office (NSO) requests assistance from DepED for the successful operation of the 2007 Census of Population.
  3. In this connection, all DepED regional and field offices are directed to conduct publicity and information campaigns thru Parents-Teachers Association (PTA) meetings, lectures, etc. to disseminate the purpose of the forthcoming 2007 Census of Population. Reproduction of the enclosed POPCEN 2007 primers (translated into major dialects, namely: English, Tagalog, Cebuano, Hiligaynon, Bicol, Kapampangan, Waray, and Ilocano) is hereby requested for distribution to various public and private elementary and secondary schools that are within their jurisdiction. Some classrooms of the said schools should also be made available during the training of the census enumerators and supervisors in all regions throughout the country.
  4. Immediate dissemination of this Order is directed.
