Strengthening the Implementation of the Special Programs in the Arts and in Sports (SPA and SPS)
  1. To assist secondary schools implementing the Special Programs (Arts and Sports) in the effective delivery of service to talented students, the Department of Education (DepED) through the Bureau of Secondary Education (BSE) shall provide a Five Hundred Thousand Pesos (PH500,000.00) subsidy to the seventeen (17) schools of the SPA and SPS (please see enclosed list) with approved School Improvement Plans (SIPs), subject to the release of funds for the purpose by the Department of Budget and Management (DBM).
  2. The amount shall be specifically used for the following:
Not exceeding 25%                                Training of teachers and administrators
Not exceeding 35%                                Procurement of sports equipment/musical instruments
Not exceeding 20%                                Procurement of instructional materials and supplies (i.e. costumes, athletic uniforms, etc)
Not exceeding 20%                                Student development activities such as training, workshop, participation in DepED approved
                                                            competitions in arts/sports including travel allowance of students during training’ competition.
  1. Enclosures 1 and 2 show the list of recipient schools and their corresponding allocations. The financial subsidy shall be released directly to the recipient implementing schools pursuant to the provisions of the DepED-DBM Joint Circular No. 2004-1 (The Guidelines on the Direct Release of Funds to Regional Offices and Implementing Units) or through the Schools Division Offices for schools without fiscal autonomy.
  2. A terminal report on the impact on the use of this financial subsidy together with the Physical and Financial reports, shall be submitted at the end of the school year to BSE for records purposes.
  3. Immediate dissemination of and compliance with this Order is directed.
