Additional Provisions to DepEd Order No. 59, s. 2012 (Revised Implementing Guidelines on the Selection and Hiring of ALS Literacy Volunteers)

  1. The Department of Education (DepEd) seeks to further strengthen its Alternative Learning System (ALS) in order to reach more out-of-school children, youth and adults in response to attainment of objectives of both Education for All (EFA) and Millennium Development Goals (MDGs).
  2. In this connection, the following provisions are added to Item Nos. 2.0 and 6.0 of DepEd Order No. 59, s. 2012 entitled Revised Implementing Guidelines on the Selection and Hiring of ALS Literacy Volunteers:
    2.0 Coverage
    The number of Literacy Volunteers per Division to implement the ALS Literacy Volunteer Program is increased from 719 to 917. The list of divisions with their allocated number of Literacy Volunteers is contained in the enclosure.
    6.0 Funds Allocation, Release and Disbursement
    Aside from stipends and allowances of the Literacy Volunteers to be downloaded to recipient Divisions, Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) Funds for the Regional and Division Supervisors are hereby included starting CY 2014. Regional level M&E shall be conducted once and the Division level twice, within the ten-month period. The breakdown of M&E Funds for this purpose is also stipulated in Annex 1.
  3. All other provisions of the above-cited DepEd Order shall remain in force.
  4. Immediate dissemination of and strict compliance with this Order is directed.
