DepEd Eastern Visayas Joins Celebration of World Teachers’ Day

The Department of Education Eastern Visayas will celebrate the World Teachers’ Day on October 5, 2016 at the Tacloban City Convention Center with the theme “Guro: Kabalikat sa Pagbabago”.

September 5 to October 5 of this year is marked as the National Teachers’ month and the latter date as the National Teachers’ Day as well as World Teachers’ Day. This year, the Department of Education Eastern Visayas teachers and administrators will be celebrating this event in a more energetic and meaningful way. In line with the theme, this day will be celebrated in order to give due recognition and appreciation of the sacrifices and efforts of teachers around the region in order to serve well the stakeholders especially the learners.

As it is World Teachers’ Day, it will be a day full of activities specifically organized for the teachers to enjoy and relax. The whole day celebration will start off with a Zumba at the City Hall Grounds and will then be followed by a Fun Walk around the city of Tacloban. Aside from that, ecumenical services will also take place where a Bloodletting activity will follow.

An Opening Program is also scheduled in the morning where Hon. Dina S. Ocampo, Undersecretary for Curriculum and Instruction, will be the Guest of Honor. The Mayor of Tacloban City, Hon. Cristina G. Romualdez will also be of attendance.

A “one-stop-shop” will be available for the teachers wherein they can avail of free services such as massages, hair and make-up dos, etc. Booths by different government units will also be set up in the area.

After the day activity, teachers and administrators will then attend the “Hollywood Night” where they are expected to be in their best attires to witness various performances and other entertainment productions prepared by the hosts.

This activity will be hosted by the Tacloban City Division and preparations will be overseen by no less than the Regional Director of DepEd RO8 – Dr. Ramir B. Uytico, CESO IV.
