Deped bicol conducts training on weather and tropical cyclone to science teachers and DRRM coordinators
Legazpi City- DepED Region V in partnership with WeatherPhilippines Foundation and City Savings Bank successfully conducted the weather and tropical cyclone 101 training, March 22-23 at the Casa Lorenzo hall in Daraga, Albay.
The purpose of the training is to introduce the basic concepts, processes and effects of different weather disturbances and rain producing weather systems in the country to selected DepED ROV V for the improvement of the emergency response and disaster management program of the region.
There were about 100 teachers, supervisors and DRRM coordinators from the 13 SDOs in Region V who took part in the said activity.
The training session was divided into three parts, the introduction of WeatherPhilippines Foundation thru Ms. Margarette Lim, Sustainability Specialist of WPF, training on Weather by Mr. John Christian Lequiron, Junior Specialist of WPF and in Cyclone 101 by Mr. David Michael Padua, Senior Typhoon Specialist of WPF. The focus of the powerhouse trainors of the WPF is to discuss and explain the prevailing weather systems in the Philippines. The participants were also thought on how to plot typhoons using the Philippine Tropical Cyclone Chart.
At the end of the training, Engr Ronald C. Asis, Chief of ESSD represented the Regional Office of Department of Education in Bicol in extending gratitude to WeatherPhilippines Foundation and City Savings Bank for the technical assistance to the selected Regional Staff.
DepED, WeatherPhilippines Foundation and City Savings have been partnering for a long time in implementing several programs not just in Bicol Region but also in other Regional Offices of the Department of Education.
