DepEd Region 8 Celebrates 42nd Founding Anniversary

Palo, Leyte, Eastern Visayas – The Department of Education Regional Office VIII will be celebrating its 42ndFounding Anniversary on July 24-28, 2017. This year’s celebration is anchored on the theme “DepEd @42: LEADing and Empowering.”

“Every day is legacy-giving.” Regional Director Ramir B. Uytico opened Day 1 (July 24, 2017) of the weeklong 42ndFounding Anniversary Celebration with a positive thought that every employee is an integral part of the agency’s accomplishments.

This year’s celebration shall commence with a Ceremonial Flag Raising and Opening Program on July 25, 2017. Highlights of the activity shall focus on fortifying the implementation of its regional banner project – the Project LEAD (Lead, Empower, and Achieve Through Data-Driven Decisions).

Moreover, there will be a Superintendent’s Accomplishments and Success Telling Report on Education (SASTRE) in the afternoon of July 25th. The SASTRE aims to provide the general public with the status of education in every division. This activity also hopes to promote transparency in the education sector in Eastern Visayas. A cultural show will be conducted in the evening of the same day to showcase the region’s best dance arts.

In addition, there will be a regional launching of the Human Resource Development and Information System. The HRDIS aims to establish a personnel data system to fast-track the release of benefits and other related claims of all DepEd Region VIII teaching and non-teaching employees.

To intensify its call for school leader empowerment, a Project LEAD session on Legacy-Driven LEADership will be conducted on July 26, 2017 with Dr. Nerissa Linell Joie T. Calub, CESO VI, Education Administrator of DepEd New York City, as the resource person.

To put premium on the capacity of the region’s school leaders to achieve Project LEAD’s goal – that is, to create great schools, a School Leaders’ Congress will be conducted on July 27-28, 2017 with Atty. Maria Anthonette Velasco-Allones, CESO I, Executive Director of the Career Executive Service Board.

The anniversary celebration hopes to reignite the DepEd employees’ passion and commitment toward selfless government service and quality basic education.
