MANILA, June 26, 2019 – Secretary Leonor Magtolis Briones received a plaque of appreciation for being an education champion from outgoing Manila City Mayor Joseph Ejercito Estrada during the 448th Araw ng Maynila celebration held at the Tent City of the Manila Hotel.
As one of the recipients of the Tagapagtaguyod ng Edukasyon 2019 by the Division of City Schools – Manila, Briones expressed her gratitude and appreciation to Estrada for his all-out support to the milestones of education in the city.
The Education chief also congratulated the teaching and non-teaching personnel as a way of acknowledging their exemplary roles and contribution in making basic education accessible to everyone, especially to those who are in disadvantaged areas.
Briones, together with Estrada and School Division Superintendent of Manila Jenilyn Rose Corpuz, led the conferment of awardees. These outstanding educators were honored for their pursuit of excellence in their specialized field, developing innovative teaching strategies and more importantly being a good role model to their peers.
