With the initiative of Finance Division headed by Ms. Teresa C. Arcayera and in coordination with the DepEd Central Office, DepEd Region V(Bicol) is among the Regions who will pilot the implementation of Budget and Treasury Management System (BTMS) this year. With the help of Asec. Ramon Fiel G. Abcede, Assistant Secretary for Finance and Director Bettina Aquino, Director III, Director for Finance Service, the virtual orientation of BTMS was successfully conducted last February 22, 2021. It was participated in by the Top Management, Chiefs of the Functional and Support Division, the program owners, and the personnel from Asset Management Section, Personnel Section, ICT Unit, Cashier Unit, Finance Division and Policy, Planning and Research Division (PPRD) of the Regional Office Proper. Selected personnel from the 13 Schools Division Offices (SDOs) also attended the Orientation.

Participants during the orientation were able to see the interface and features of the BTMS. They were oriented on the importance and the advantage of this system. A short run through of the system was also presented, and it was evident that BTMS will be a total shift from the usual reporting to a different setting wherein reports are already available real-time.

The implementation of the BTMS in the Department of Education will aid in meeting the needs of providing timely education inputs, which is included in the Secretary’s 10 Point Agenda.

The next step on the roadmap towards implementation of BTMS will be the Responsibility Center (RC) and Security Access Matrix (SAM) and Data Migration Workshop which is scheduled on the second quarter of the year. Meantime, the Training-Workshop of the Power Users in the BTMS for DepEd Bicol is tentatively scheduled on April 19-20, 2021.
