Legazpi – The Department of Education Bicol led by Regional Director Gilbert Sadsad signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Nestle Philippines SVP. Head of Corporate Affairs Ms. Arlene Bantoto and Greatfil Team Inc. President Mr. Pat Goc-Ong to further strengthen the implementation of Nestle Wellness Campus program for the upcoming school year, June 29, 2021.
Present at the event were Education Support Services Division Chief Engr. Ronald Asis, Medical Officer IV Dr. Israel Parra and Dra. Maria Rosalia Vivien Maninang from DepEd Bicol and Greatfil Managing Director Atty. Jojo Taloma, National Operations Head Ms. Lovely Erosa and Regional Head Bicol Region Mr. Nelson Paz from Greatfil Team Inc.
The agreement aims to intensify the partnership between DepEd and Nestle in advocating health and wellness alongside education and learning in the coming years. Further, the MOU aims to expand Nestle’s support to DepEd’s Basic Education Learning Continuity Plan through the provision of online modules and educational kits for Bicolano learners.
The Campus Wellness Program is a continuing joint program by Nestlé Philippines and the DepEd involving seven million grade school and high school learners in NCR, CALABARZON, Bicolt Central Visayast and Northern Mindanao. The program, reaching almost 40% of public grade school and high school students in the country, educates the students and their parents on how to live a healthy life, by choosing healthier food and drink options and physical activity all year round.
For School Year 2021-2022, the Nestlé Wellness Campus will expand its support to DepEd Bicol by preparing additional and timely online modules and worksheets about immunity and handwashing as well as the environment. The program will also feature new activities for Senior High School students such as the Sarap Sustansya Virtual Kick-off and the Nestle Needs Youth Module.
The implementation of the said wellness program will also highlight the inter-school and inter-regional competition for the Best Campus Wellness School Implementer for this year.
Following the successful ceremonial MOA signing, DepEd Bicol will hold the Regional Virtual Orientation of the Campus Wellness Program for the SY 2021-2022 on July 2, 2021
