PASIG CITY, June 26, 2018 – The Department of Education (DepEd) has constituted a fact-finding committee to look into alleged overprizing of razors procured by DepEd Region 10, reported by Philippine Daily Inquirer and published online on June 25, 2018.

Based on initial reports gathered by the DepEd central office from field and other units, the items referred to were part of various tools and equipment for Senior High School TVL Track, procured sometime between April to June 2016 from funds downloaded by the central office sometime in February 2016. Also based on preliminary reports, payment for the items has not been made since the supplier did not comply with the specifications. The incident appears to have occurred prior to the term of the present administration.

The fact-finding committee is tasked to carefully but expeditiously examine the relevant facts and documents relating to the transaction. DepEd commits to provide the public with concrete and definite answers at the soonest.

The public may rest assured that the Department shall not tolerate any form or act of irregularity in its procurement processes from the Central down to its field offices should it find any.
