January 16, 2021 – Committed to ensuring inclusive and equitable quality education, the Department of Education (DepEd) is proactively reinforcing initiatives to equip learners with fundamental literacy and numeracy skills.

In this challenging endeavor, we are grateful for the continued support of our lawmakers and the President for our Early Language, Literacy, and Numeracy (ELLN) program, evident with the release of Php 20 Million to cover the Region-wide Training on the Adoption of the Blended Delivery Model for Teacher Professional Development (TPD).

DepEd would like to thank Senator Bong Go for endorsing and facilitating the said proposal and President Rodrigo Roa Duterte for the speedy approval of the budget.

With Php 1.25 Million allocated for each region, the ELLN support funds will strengthen supervisors, school heads, and teachers’ capability to teach and assess reading and numeracy skills of learners. It shall also be utilized for procurement of learning materials and subsidy for communication expenses to enable participants to attend online training and school learning action cells (SLAC). Further, the fund will sustain the management and implementation of school-based mentoring and learning partnership program.

The Department believes that it will take a nation to educate a child. With this budgetary boost in the first key stages of learning, we took another step in providing quality education to every Filipino learner.
