DepEd RO3 holds the 2015 Regional School Press Conference

City of San Fernando, Pampanga—Pursuant to Republic Act 7079 otherwise known as the Campus Journalism Act of 1991, the Department of Education Region III shall hold the School Year 2015-2016 Regional Schools Press Conference (RSPC) on January 7 (Elementary Level) and January 8 (Secondary Level) at the Pampanga High School.

With the theme “The Role of 21st Century Campus Journalists in Upholding Good Governance, Leadership and Transparency”, the conference aims to demonstrate understanding of the importance of journalism by expressing it through different journalistic endeavors and approaches, sustain advocacy on social consciousness, provide a venue for an enriching learning experience for students interested in pursuing journalism as a career, promote responsible journalism and fair and ethical use of social media, and enhance journalistic competence through healthy and friendly competitions.

The conference activities include Individual Contests on News Writing, Editorial Writing, Editorial Cartooning, Feature Writing, Sports Writing, Copy Reading, and Headline Writing, Photojournalism, Science and Technology Writing; Scriptwriting and Radio Broadcasting Contests; Collaborative and Desktop Publishing; and Awarding of Outstanding School Paper Advisers (SPAs) and Campus Journalists (CJs).

The twenty participating schools divisions are Angeles City, Aurora, Bataan, Balanga City, Bulacan, Cabanatuan City, Gapan, Mabalacat City, Malolos City, Meycauyan City, Science City of Munoz, Nueva Ecija, Olongapo City, Pampanga, City of San Fernando, San Jose City, San Jose del Monte, Tarlac Province, Tarlac City, and Zambales.

The top three (3) winners in the individual contests and the first place winners in Script Writing and Radio Broadcasting and Collaborative Desktop Publishing shall represent the Region to the National Schools Press Conference (NSPC) which shall be held on February 22-26 in Koronadal City, South Cotabato.•
