DepEd OIC-RD Cariño reminds schools, “JS Prom is not mandatory”

The Department of Education (DepEd) Regional Office 2 reminds all school authorities regarding the non-mandatory conduct and participation to Junior and Senior Promenade (JS Prom).

OIC-Regional Director Estela L. Cariño of the Department of Education Region 2 has sent a memorandum to all Schools Division Offices (SDOs) emphasizing the non-mandatory attendance to extra-curricular activities like the JS Prom.

Nevertheless, in case schools conduct such activity acceding to the requests of the Parent-teachers Community Associations (PTCAs), she urged schools to keep celebrations simple without over-spending. Contributions for the activity, if any, should be on a voluntary basis.

Director Cariño emphasized the “No Collection Policy” in public schools as she likewise appeals to schools to consider the plight of parents in consideration of the many expenses they incur in sending their children to school.
