DepEd–RO1 Ensures Smooth Opening of Classes

San Fernando City, La Union – The Department of Education Regional Office 1 (DepEd-RO1) activated the Regional Oplan Balik Eskwela Information and Action Center (R-OBEIAC), Mr. Darius C. Nieto, Project Development Officer IV said.

This is in line with the program of the department to ensure the smooth opening of classes on June 13.

The Central Office (CO) beforehand, activated the OBE and the Public Assistance Station (PAS) to address the issues and concerns commonly encountered at the start of the school year and to ensure that learners are already enrolled to be able to attend school on the first day.

Dr. Alma Ruby C. Torio, Regional Director urged the R-OBEIAC and the Schools Division Superintendents (SDO) to actively participate in the pursuit of the program’s aim – information and complaints processing and routing mechanism in the Region. The R-OBEIAC is composed of Division Chiefs and Heads of Unit; it is chaired by Assistant Regional Director (ARD) Bettina D. Aquino.

Meanwhile, Nieto stated that the Region is currently preparing for the conduct of this year’s Brigada Eskwela where School Heads are empowered to tap internal and external partners for possible resources.  Records show that since the start of the program in 2003 the School Heads, National Government Agencies, Local Government Units (LGU), parents, and other stakeholders relentlessly supported the project that brought better learning opportunities to learners.
Saula T. Jomaya, Education Program Supervisor, on the other hand, relayed that the Regional Office conducts on-the-spot visitation and inspection in the different schools divisions.

As part of the region’s contingency plan, Director Torio led the validation of the completed additional school buildings, ongoing construction, and other needed school equipment.

Brigada Eskwela is slated on May 30 – June 4, 2016.
