Navotas on Coordinates for Life

Coordinates for Life was conducted in the Division of Navotas through the collaboration with the City Government of Navotas, Coca-Cola FEMSA Philippines, and Teach for the  Philippines (TFP).

CFL is a set of programs that aims to strengthen the decision-making skills of children 8-18 years old, through fun, play-based workshops, developed by DEHYCO, a leading human development and organizational change company in Mexico, and is owned by Coca-Cola FEMSA.

The Teach for the Philippines (TFP) Fellows served as  facilitators at Kapitbahayan ES and later shared with Dagat-Dagatan Elementary School. Eventually, it grew to as many as 15 in Navotas.

“We have witnessed , first-hand,  how the workshops contributed to the student’s development. Naging mas magalang at mahinahon sila (They became more courteous and calm). Even the parents shared how their children developed good study habits after  participating in the workshops. Kaya nag-decide  kami na i-implement siya sa lahat ng elementary school sa  Navotas (That’s why we’ve decided to implement CFL in all of the public elementary schools in Navotas),” says former TFP Fellow Kathryn Hilario, who now works as a Technical Assistant at the Navotas City Mayor’s Office under the Teach for the Philippines Alumni      Ambassadorship  Program.

How it works
The thirteen (13) TFP Fellows assigned in the TFP placement schools in Navotas City spearheads the Children’s and the Educators’ Workshop, which are held every Saturday, catering to 300 students and 120 parents and teachers per session.

The Children’s Workshop is play-based and employs experiential learning to promote the values in each module, dubbed as Routes. The city-wide implementation of CFL in Navotas will run until December this year.
