AMENDMENT AND CLARIFICATION TO DEPED ORDER No. 9, s. 2004 (Guidelines in the Selection of Honor Pupils/Students in Public Schools)

1.    As agreed in the last National Management Committee (MANCOM) Meeting wherein Regional Directors provided feedback from the field offices, Item No. 3 of DepED Order No . 9 s. 2004 is hereby amended as “Annexes of secondary schools may also be entitled to a separate set of honor pupils/students, provided that the annex is a complete high school, i.e., it offers all the curriculum years of secondary education

2.    Additionally, the last sentence of Paragraph 1(b) of the same DepED Order which reads “Academic standing shall be based on the general average of the pupils/students ” means that the general average is the result of the sum of the final ratings divided by the number of subjects or learning areas. This implies that the average shall not be weighted. While the unit credits shall not be applied in ranking the students for honors, these, however, shall be used in determining whether the student shall be declared “Promoted” or “Retained”.

3.    Immediate dissemination of this Order is directed.
